The Ghanaian government has unveiled its 2025 budget, marking a significant milestone in the country's fiscal journey. 

This budget comes at a critical juncture, as Ghana seeks to consolidate its economic gains, address pressing developmental challenges, and propel its citizens toward a brighter future. 

The 2025 budget is designed to be a transformative blueprint, outlining a clear vision for Ghana's economic growth, social development, and fiscal sustainability.


Key Objectives

1. Reduce Expenditure: Streamline government spending to eliminate waste and inefficiencies.

2. Enhance Revenue Generation: Implement measures to boost revenue collection and reduce dependence on external borrowing.

3. Promote Economic Growth: Allocate resources to critical sectors that drive economic expansion and job creation.


Strategic Allocations

1. Big Push Programme: GH¢13.85 billion to accelerate economic growth.

2. Education:

    •GH¢3.5 billion for free secondary education.

    •GH¢499.8 million for the No-Academic-Fee policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions.

    •GH¢564.6 million for comprehensive provision of free curricula-based textbooks.

    •GH¢1.788 billion for the School Feeding Programme.

    •GH¢145.5 million for the Capitation Grant.

    •GH¢203 million for the payment of teacher trainee allowances.

3. Health: GH¢9.93 billion for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

4. Infrastructure:

    •GH¢2.81 billion for the Ghana Road Fund.

    •GH¢7.51 billion for the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

5. Agriculture: GH¢1.5 billion for the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA).

6. Social Welfare:

    •GH¢292.4 million for the distribution of free sanitary pads to female students in primary and secondary schools.

    •GH¢242.5 million to support victims of the Akosombo dam spillage.

    •GH¢200 million to support victims of the tidal wave disaster in the Ketu South constituency.

7. •Empowerment and Job Creation:

    •GH¢51.3 million as seed fund for the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank.

    •GH¢300 million for the National Apprenticeship Programme.

    •GH¢100 million for the ‘Adwumawura’ Programme.

    •GH¢100 million for the National Coders Programme.

8. Nursing Trainee Allowances: GH¢480 million for the payment of nursing trainee allowances.
