"My Actions Have Always Been in Ghana's Best Interest" – Ofori-Atta on OSP's Criminal Investigation

‘I have always acted in Ghana’s best interest’ – Ofori-Atta on OSP’s criminal probe.

Former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofaakor Ofori-Atta has publicly addressed the ongoing investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), reaffirming his commitment to acting in the best interests of Ghana.

In a recent statement, Mr. Ofori-Atta expressed his surprise and concern regarding the developments surrounding the OSP's probe. He emphasized his dedication to transparency and integrity throughout his 40-year career, including his tenure as Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024.

The OSP's investigation focuses on several financial transactions, including.

1. The Strategic Mobilisation-GRA Contract

2. The termination of the ECG-BXC contract

3. Payments related to the National Cathedral

4. Ambulance procurement

5. Utilization of the Tax Refund Account

Mr. Ofori-Atta clarified that he was abroad for medical reasons when the OSP summoned him for an in-person meeting. He offered to cooperate through his legal representatives but was informed that his personal attendance was required.

Subsequently, the OSP confirmed that Mr. Ofori-Atta had indicated his intention to return to Ghana voluntarily, and his name was removed from the wanted list. However, the authorities cautioned that failure to return as scheduled would prompt further action.
