NAGRAT Demands Withdrawal of GES Deputy Director-General Appointment
NAGRAT Voices Strong Objection to GES Deputy Director-General Appointment.
The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has formally expressed its vehement opposition to the recent appointment of Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi as Deputy Director-General for Management Services at the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In a statement, Angel Carbonu, National President of NAGRAT, emphasized that while Professor Dzisi boasts an impressive academic pedigree, her lack of professional experience within the education sector renders her unsuitable for the position.
Carbonu drew attention to the distinction between Professor Dzisi's background as a former Vice-Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University and the prerequisites for success in the GES role.
He noted that the previous incumbent had progressed through the ranks, acquiring invaluable expertise as a professional teacher and regional director before assuming the management services position.
NAGRAT stressed that the GES is a professional institution within the public service, necessitating leadership with hands-on experience in the education sector. Carbonu underscored,
"The Ghana Education Service is not an appendage of a political office; it is a specialized entity that demands expertise and practical knowledge of the education system."
In light of these concerns, NAGRAT has urged the government to reconsider Professor Dzisi's appointment and withdraw her nomination forthwith.
